Nevada Commission: 4 Fighters Out Up to 6 Months Following ‘TUF 16’ Finale in Las Vegas

Four men could be out up to six months following “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 16 finale, as Nevada Athletic Commision officials announced Tuesday that Pat Barry, Marcos Vinicius Borges Pancini, Vinc Pichel and John Cofer have all been medically suspended until June 15, 2013.

The Dec. 15 event took place at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and was headlined by a heavyweight showdown between “TUF 16” coach Roy Nelson and injury replacement Matt Mitrione, who was suspended until Jan. 30 after suffering a first-round technical knockout at the hands of “Big Country.”

Barry injured his right foot in the process of brutally knocked out Shane del Rosario in the second round of their heavyweight collision. Earlier in the evening, Pichel and Vinicius suffered knockout losses to Rustam Khabilov and Johnny Bedford, respectively, while Cofer was submitted with a third-round armbar by “TUF 15” cast mate Mike Rio. All four men may return to action sooner if they are cleared by a physician.

The “TUF 16” finale also saw Colton Smith become the latest winner of the long-running reality series, as the Team Nelson representative used his wrestling to outpoint Team Carwin finalist Mike Ricci in the evening’s co-main event.
