Omar Antonio Morales Ferrer, Herbert Burns, Andre Muniz Land UFC Contracts on DWCS

The Ultimate Fighting Championship call went out to Omar Antonio Morales Ferrer, Herbert Burns and Andre Muniz after Season 3, Episode 7 of Dana White’s Contender Series on Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. All three men executed finishes, booking their trips to the UFC.

Ferrer kept his perfect professional record intact, as he cut down Legacy Fighting Alliance champion Harvey Park with leg kicks and punches in the second round of their lightweight confrontation. Park (12-3) succumbed to blows 66 seconds into Round 2.

Ferrer (8-0) established his superiority from the start, attacking the New Mexico native with power punches to the head and savage kicks to the lower leg. A little more than a minute into the middle stanza, a series of low kicks left Park immobilized against the fence. Ferrer closed in, buckled his knees with a two-punch burst and forced referee Herb Dean to intervene.

The loss snapped Park’s three-fight winning streak.

Operating out of the Hard Knocks 365 camp, Burns submitted Darrick Minner with a triangle armbar in the first round of their featherweight pairing. Minner (22-10) bowed out 2:29 into Round 1, as he lost for the second time in three outings.

Burns (9-2) engaged the well-traveled Nebraskan at close range, attacked with knees from the clinch and soon found himself in a firefight. Minner cut loose with winging punches, jumped to the back at one point and assumed top position on a failed guillotine choke from the Brazilian. Burns kept his cool, locked in a triangle choke and extended the arm for the tap.

The 31-year-old Burns has won three fights in a row, all by submission.

A Tata Fight Team representative, Muniz submitted the previously unbeaten Taylor Johnson with a rear-naked choke in the first round of their middleweight encounter. Johnson (5-1) conceded defeat 1:46 into Round 1.

Muniz (18-4) weather an early offensive burst from the Legacy Fighting Alliance veteran, as he was taken down and hammered with ground-and-pound. The Brazilian eventually scrambled to Johnson’s back, secured his position with hooks and cinched the choke for the finish.

The 29-year-old Muniz has rattled off four consecutive wins.

In other action, Team Alpha Male’s Dwight Joseph (5-0) took a unanimous decision from Jay Perrin (5-4) in a three-round bantamweight affair, earning 29-28 marks from all three judges; and Lucrezia Ria (8-2) eked out a contentious split verdict -- 27-30, 29-28, 29-28 -- over Marilia Santos (10-3) in a three-round women’s flyweight battle.
