The current leading mixed martial arts promotion in Asia, One Championship announced Wednesday that it’s bringing its brand of contained chaos to Cambodia. Set for Dec. 5 at the Koh Pich Theatre, “Kingdom of Khmer” will be headlined by a lightweight battle between Lowen Tynanes and Rasul Yakhyaev.
A native Hawaiian, Tynanes has been impressive thus far in his career, as he’s yet to lose an MMA match either as a pro or in the amateurs. His blend of wrestling, striking and submissions has allowed him to dominate all of his foes, with his most recent triumph coming against Kuat Khamitov in May at One Championship 27.
Standing in his way is Russian Yakhyaev, who is currently riding a two-fight winning streak. Equally sturdy on the ground as well as the feet, Yakhyaev expects to continue his winning ways and looks to score his third consecutive stoppage.
The co-featured bout is a matchup between Japanese contender Riku Shibuya taking on Anatpong Bunrad.
Also slated for the bill is featherweight Sam Ang Dun taking on Chan Rothana; Chan Heng versus Mario Satya Wirawan in a bantamweight showdown; Chan Sam Art will square off against fellow bantamweight Meas Meu; Tharoth Sam will meet Jeet Toshi; and Eh Ya Nut and Vy Srey Chai will be locking horns.
