On Friday, Combate first broke the story that Pimblett (16-3) would be stepping inside the Octagon on Sept. 4 against Luigi Vendramini (9-2). The UFC Fight Night card slated for London does not yet have a venue established, although this lightweight bout has been booked for this event. News of Pimblett’s debut came from the fighter on his Instagram page on Thursday, and the matchup was confirmed by other outlets on Friday.

Former bantamweight Pimblett has largely impressed since his shift up to the lightweight division in 2018, starting with a flying triangle choke on Alexis Savvidis in his first fight at 155 pounds. An unsuccessful attempt for the Cage Warriors lightweight strap against Soren Bak did not spell the end of the Brit’s rise, as he bounced back with a pair of first-round stoppages of Decky Dalton and Davide Martinez on March 20 of 2020 and 2021, respectively. “The Baddy” sports a career finish rate of 75 percent, with five stoppages in his last six victories, and the lone decision over current UFC rostermate Julian Erosa.

In his last time out, Vendramini went to the scorecards for the first time in his career, dropping a majority decision to Fares Ziam. The Brazilian made his organizational debut in 2018, where he was scorched by a flying knee and follow-up punches from Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. “The Italian Stallion” rebounded with a head-kick knockout of Jessin Ayari some two years later, only to fall short to Ziam in June.

The currently unnumbered UFC Fight Night event on Sept. 4 will most likely be held in London, with a headliner seeing Darren Till take on Derek Brunson at middleweight. Other key matchups on the card include a light heavyweight battle between Paul Craig and Alexander Gustafsson, as well as a featherweight tilt pitting the unbeaten Lerone Murphy against Charles Jourdain.
