The tables have turned for Patrick Cummins, who will roll out the red carpet for Kyle Kingsbury’s Ultimate Fighting Championship return at UFC on Fox 12.
After filling in for Rashad Evans against Daniel Cormier on just 10 days’ notice at UFC 170, Cummins will enter the Octagon for the third time in the span of five months. The matchup comes on the heels of his TKO victory against Roger Navarez at UFC Fight Night 42 this past weekend.
Kingsbury will look to re-enter the fray at light heavyweight following what could have been a career-ending orbital bone injury suffered in a defeat against Jimi Manuwa at UFC on Fuel TV 5. Prior to the setback, “The Ultimate Fighter 8” competitor racked up a four-fight winning streak against the likes of Fabio Maldonado before dropping three to close out 2012.
UFC on Fox 12 will take place July 26 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., and is headlined by Robbie Lawler versus Matt Brown to determine the No. 1 contender in Zuffa’s welterweight division.
