Patricky Freire-Derek Campos Rematch Set for Bellator 194 Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA will once again try to book a rematch between Patricky Freire and Derek Campos.

The California-based promotion announced on Friday that Freire vs. Campos 2 will serve as the co-headliner for Bellator 194 on Feb. 16. Freire and Campos were supposed to square off on two different occasions in 2016, but both times the bout was canceled due to injuries. The fight was announced again for Bellator 181 this past July, but that pairing was scratched when “Pitbull” was moved to Bellator 183 to face Benson Henderson.

Bellator 194 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and is headlined by a heavyweight grand prix quarterfinal clash between Matt Mitrione and Roy Nelson. The card airs on the Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

Freire defeated Campos via technical knockout 52 seconds into round two of their first meeting at Bellator 117 in April 2014. The 31-year-old Brazilian has won four of his last five promotional appearances, including a second-round KO of Josh Thomson and a split verdict against Henderson last year.

Campos, meanwhile, enters the matchup on a four-fight winning streak. He last appeared at Bellator 181, where he defeated Brandon Girtz via doctor stoppage after two rounds in an entertaining brawl.
