A showdown between a pair of all-action lightweights is set to headline the UFC’s upcoming card in Auckland, New Zealand on Feb. 23.
The Las Vegas-based promotion announced Wednesday that Paul Felder will square off against Dan Hooker in the UFC Auckland main event at Spark Arena. The Fight Night event will likely air on ESPN+.
Felder has been on a roll of late, winning five of his last six Octagon appearances. “The Irish Dragon” enjoyed a successful 2019 campaign, scoring victories over James Vick at UFC on ESPN 1 and avenging a previous loss to Edson Barboza at UFC 242. Felder also owns a notable win over streaking Brazilian Charles Oliveira during his current tear.
Hooker, meanwhile, has rebounded from a brutal KO loss to Barboza at the end of 2018 to post back-to-back wins over Vick and Al Iaquinta in 2019. “The Hangman” has been victorious in six of his last seven promotional appearances, with all but one of those triumphs coming inside the distance.
