Paulo Costa isn’t taking himself too seriously in the lead-up to his recently announced matchup against Marvin Vettori.

“Contract has been signed and tasted,” Costa wrote on Instagram. “Salute.”
The post is a nod toward the Brazilian’s post-fight comments following a second-round technical knockout loss to Israel Adesanya last September, when Costa claimed that he drank an entire bottle of wine because he was having difficulty sleeping the night before the middleweight title bout.
Costa vs. Vettori will headline the UFC Fight Night card on Oct. 23 and is expected to take place in Las Vegas.
After beginning his MMA career with 13 consecutive triumphs, including five in the UFC, “Borrachinha” was defeated by Adesanya via second-round TKO last September. After that, the Brazilian was scheduled to face Jared Cannonier in August but ultimately refused to sign the contract for the fight, citing frustration with his pay.
