RFA 23 Weigh-ins: Joe Murphy Misses Weight, Terrion Ware on Point for Main Event

By Tristen Critchfield Feb 5, 2015
Terrion Ware made weight without issue ahead of the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 23 bantamweight main event, but opponent Joe Murphy’s trip to the scale was not nearly as successful.

Ware checked in at 136 pounds at Thursday’s weigh-ins, while Murphy was five pounds heavy at 141 pounds. RFA 23 takes place at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Friday. The evening’s main card airs on AXS-TV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The co-main event features a middleweight showdown between former RFA title challenger Gabriel Checco (185.8) and “The Ultimate Fighter 11” alum Joseph Henle (184.4).

Murphy made his promotional debut on Dec. 5, when he stopped Bruno Frazatto via technical knockout 2:59 into the opening frame at RFA 21. The Cleber Jiu-Jitsu product is 8-1 as a professional, with his only loss coming to Carson Beebe at WSOF 3 in June 2013.

Ware, meanwhile, went 3-1 in 2014, including a second-round submission of Zac Chavez at RFA 12 in January. The 28-year-old Los Angeles native is 12-3 since beginning his pro career June 2012, with eight of his triumphs coming via knockout or submission.
