Ostovich’s husband, fellow mixed martial artist Arnold Berdon, has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and was arrested by the Honolulu Police. He is still being held in custody.
An excerpt from Ostovich’s petition for a restraining order, posted by TMZ, details her recollection of what happened on the night of the attack:
“After a night out with family, [Arnold Berdon] punched me repeatedly on the head, face, ribs, making me fall to the ground,” Ostovich said. “I gasped for breath and escaped thru [sic] balcony. I coughed up blood, threw up sev. times. Cracked orbital.”
The report also mentions that this attack was not an isolated incidence, as Ostovich claims that on May 6 of this year Berdon attacked her by punching her legs, which resulted in bruising.
Berdon is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted as a result of the attack. This is the second time this year that a competitor in the UFC women’s flyweight division was attacked by her husband, with Donny Aaron, husband and trainer of Andrea Lee, also charged with domestic violence back in August.
