Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor were supposed to fight at UFC 196, but an injury to the Brazilian halted those plans.

Dos Anjos then lost this belt to Eddie Alvarez, and Alvarez got the fight with McGregor instead. So, with McGregor looking to return to the Octagon in January, the Brazilian has called for the fight to finally happen.
“Don’t give this guy a tune up fight, give him real contender at 170 , 165 or 155. I’m in all the way @danawhite @seanshelby,” dos Anjos wrote on Instagram.
The 33-year-old dos Anjos has compiled a 4-3 mark since moving up to welterweight in 2017. Most recently, he dropped a unanimous verdict to Leon Edwards at UFC on ESPN 4 in July. Earlier this year, he submitted Kevin Lee in the fourth round in the UFC Fight Night 152 main event.
McGregor, meanwhile, has not fought since his UFC 229 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title. He has made it known he will be more active in 2020 and eyes three fights in the year. Whether or not the UFC will book dos Anjos vs. McGregor is unknown, as all signs have pointed to the Irishman taking on Donald Cerrone, though nothing is official at this point in time.
