Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight contender Randa Markos has her sights on eventually capturing a world title, but she knows such a feat comes in stages. In order to reach the pinnacle of her sport, she must take on the best opposition possible.

She’ll take that next step at UFC on Fox 17 on Dec. 19 in Orlando.

It was announced Wednesday night on UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1 that Markos will square off against undefeated contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The TUF alum last fought in April when she edged Aisling Daly, this after being toppled by Jessica Penne at the TUF 21 Finale.

Standing in Markos’ way is Polish sensation Kowalkiewicz, who has run roughshod over her opponents in KSW and Invicta Fighting Championships. Kowalkiewicz last fought in February, where she narrowly nipped Kalindra Faria via split decision at KSW 30.

UFC on Fox 17 is slated to be headlined by the lightweight champion between titlist Rafael dos Anjos defending against Donald Cerrone. Heavyweights Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem will clash in the co-feature.
