Herb Dean will be the third man in the Octagon when Demetrious Johnson defends his flyweight title against John Dodson in the UFC 191 headliner.
Dean was selected to be the referee for the Sept. 5 bout during Thursday’s Nevada Athletic Commission meeting. Additionally, Derek Cleary, Marcos Rosales and Tony Weeks were appointed to score the five-round contest. It will be the third Johnson title defense that Dean has refereed.
UFC 191 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view.
Johnson defeated Dodson via unanimous decision in their first meeting at UFC on Fox 6 in Chicago on Jan. 26, 2013. Sal D’Amato and Otto Torriero scored the fight 48-47 for “Mighty Mouse,” while Gabriel Sabaitis saw it 49-46 for the champion. John McCarthy was the referee for the fight.
