On Saturday, Colby Covington added a huge name to his résumé and cemented himself as the next challenger for the UFC welterweight title with a five-round domination of Robbie Lawler, but it turns out the fight almost didn’t happen at all.

The injury didn’t seem to faze the former interim welterweight champion, who manhandled Lawler from start to finish and then promptly turned his attention to undisputed champ Kamaru Usman, a man with whom he has been sparring verbally for months.
Fans got a sneak peek of what to expect in the lead-up to the title fight later this year as Covington did his post-fight interview with the ESPN panel which included Usman and security had to intervene as both fighters started to trade barbs.
