New details have emerged regarding the confrontation between Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly that occurred at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

According to a report from ”Extra," the incident occurred because McGregor allegedly messaged Kelly’s girlfriend, movie star Megan Fox. Initial reports stated that MGK shoved the former UFC champion after he asked for a picture, and McGregor responded by throwing a drink at the singer/rapper.

Videos and photos show security separating the two men as McGregor lunged and shouted at Kelly. Both men attended the VMAs, with Kelly performing onstage. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, McGregor claimed to not know the cause of the altercation.

“I don’t know,” McGregor said. “I just showed up, and I don’t know. I don’t even know the guy, to be honest with you—just rumors. Nothing happened to me. I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight. I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

McGregor spokesperson Karen Kessler denied that McGregor asked Kelly for a photo at the event, which took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

"Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident," Kessler wrote in the statement to ESPN. "He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor's fight this past July.

Meanwhile, Kelly, whose given name is Colson Baker, refused to comment on the situation during a separate interview.
