Former Pride Fighting Championships competitor Hans Nijman was killed in a drive-by shooting Wednesday in Beverwijk, Netherlands.
Witnesses reportedly saw two cars open fire on Nijman with automatic weapons before fleeing and ultimately burning the two vehicles in the nearby town of Velserbroek, Netherlands.
Authorities have yet to confirm Nijman as the victim, but video in the report clearly shows the 55-year-old hunched over the steering wheel of his vehicle.
Nijman compiled a career mark of 9-6, competing exclusively for the Rings promotion from 1995 to 1999. In 2000, the heavyweight lost to Kazuyuki Fujita via submission under the Pride banner. Nijman last fought in 2003, losing to Cheick Kongo via submission at It’s Showtime “Amsterdam Arena.”
