Former Ultimate Fighting Championship strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk will make her return to the division in the main event of UFC Fight Night 161 on Oct. 12 according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. There, she will take on surging contender Michelle Waterson.
Jedrzejczyk is coming off of a decision loss at UFC 231 to Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant flyweight title. Before that, she beat Tecia Torres at UFC Calgary to get back into the win column after dropping two in a row. The 31-year-old is 15-3 as a pro and defended the strawweight title five times and beat Jessica Andrade, who is the current champion.
Waterson, meanwhile, is riding a three-fight winning streak, which includes wins over Cortney Casey, Felice Herrig and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. “The Karate Hottie” was campaigning for a title shot against Andrade, but the shot ultimately went to Weili Zhang.
UFC Fight Night 161 goes down on Oct. 12 on ESPN+ at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
