“Formiga” is currently riding a three-fight win streak, including two rear-naked choke finishes of Yuta Sasaki in 2017 and Ben Nguyen in 2018, and most recently defeated Sergio Pettis by decision at UFC 229. In his lengthy career spanning over 13 years, “Formiga” has never stopped an opponent with strikes, recording all 10 of his career finishes by submission.
Undefeated as a professional in 15 bouts dating back to his debut in 2012, Figueiredo has only gone the distance twice. In his UFC career, he is 4-0, and in 2018 he scored knockouts of Joseph Morales and John Moraga. That bout with Moraga was Figueiredo’s first to take place outside of his native country of Brazil.
UFC on ESPN+ 6 will take place on March 22 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. No other bouts are official for this card, but the promotion is targeting a welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Anthony Pettis for the event.
