Report: Renato ‘Moicano’ Moves to Lightweight to Face Damir Hadzovic at UFC Brasilia

Renato Carneiro will be moving up to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's lightweight division for his next test in March.

According to a report from Combate on Thursday, "Moicano" (13-3-1) will take on Damir Hadzovic (13-5) at lightweight at UFC Brasilia this March. All of Carneiro's previous bouts have taken place in the featherweight division.

With this move to lightweight, "Moicano" looks to snap a two-fight knockout skid -- the longest losing streak of his career -- by going up ten pounds. Prior to the losses, Carneiro tapped Cub Swanson in August 2018 and beat Calvin Kattar on the scorecards earlier that year. "Moicano" has never won a fight via strikes, with all six of his career stoppage wins coming by rear-naked choke. The 30-year-old Brazilian has also never lost a bout by judges' verdict.

Hazdovic has had a tumultuous UFC career to date, with three wins including two knockouts bookended by a trio of defeats. Most recently, "The Bosnian Bomber" lost via unanimous verdict to Christos Giagos in June 2019 -- a loss that snapped a two-fight win streak. Of note, the 33-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only fighter to ever stop 33-fight vet Marcin Held with strikes, doing so at UFC Fight Night 109 in 2017.

UFC Fight Night Lee vs. Oliveira will take place at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil, on March 14. Serving in the main event is a lightweight battle between Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira. Additionally, grappling wizards Demian Maia and Gilbert Burns will face off at welterweight.
