We will have to wait a little while longer for the welterweight battle between Robbie Lawler and Ben Askren, which has been relocated from the cancelled UFC 233 card to UFC 235 in March.

Former UFC welterweight champ Lawler (28-12, 1 NC) is returning from a lengthy layoff, last competing at UFC on Fox 26 in December 2017, where he lost a decision to Rafael dos Anjos. One of the most exciting fighters in MMA history, Lawler won “Fight of the Year” three years running, in 2014 against Johny Hendricks, in 2015 against Rory MacDonald and in 2016 against Carlos Condit.
Askren will be making his UFC debut after an undefeated (18-0, 1 NC) career in Bellator MMA and Ultimate Fighting Championship. In those organizations, he served as their respective welterweight champion -- defending both four times -- until vacating his belts to move on. Throughout his career, he has scored five wins by submission, six by knockout and seven by decision.
UFC 235 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 2. No bout has been announced as the headliner but two matchups have been discussed: Tecia Torres vs. Weili Zhang at women’s strawweight and Nick Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal at welterweight.
