Bellator MMA veteran Saad Awad has re-signed with the promotion and will be competing again in October.

With his new deal in place, Awad (23-11) will take on Goiti Yamauchi (23-4) in the co-main event of Bellator 229 in October in California, according to ESPN and MMA Junkie on Friday.

"Assassin" is currently on a two-fight losing streak after dropping decisions to Benson Henderson and most recently, a Bellator 219 main event loss to Brandon Girtz. The 36-year-old made his Bellator debut in January 2013, where he has compiled a record of 11-8.

Yamauchi, on the other hand, is coming off of a split decision win over former title challenger Daniel Weichel. Before that, he lost a decision to Michael Chandler that snapped his four-fight winning streak -- a streak that included wins over Adam Piccolotti and Ryan Couture. The Japanese fighter has also been with the Viacom-owned promotion since 2013.

Bellator 229 takes place on Oct. 4 in at The Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. Headlining the card is a welterweight fight between Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin.
