The third title fight to be contested at MFC 40 “Crowned Kings” is now official, as Maximum Fighting Championship officials Thursday announced that Sam Alvey will defend his middleweight belt for the first time against Wes Swofford.
Alvey, 27, is a veteran of both Bellator and “The Ultimate Fighter.” The 27-year-old re-enters the MFC ring on the strength of back-to-back wins, most recently capturing the Canadian promotion’s 185-pound title with a fifth-round knockout of Jason South this past October at MFC 38.
A 13-fight pro, Swofford has gone 2-2 in his last four fights, though he did post a 41-second knockout of UFC vet Jay Silva one year ago in his lone MFC appearance. “Nile” last competed on Nov. 9, when he knocked out Tramain Smith in the Redding, Calif.-based Rogue Fights organization.
