Satoshi Ishii Focused on Upcoming Bout vs. Jared Rosholt, Not PFL Standings

Satoshi Ishii currently has three points in the Professional Fighters League heavyweight standings, which sets him up nicely to earn a playoff bid.

In his promotional debut, he beat Ezekiel Wily by split decision, and will now take on Jared Rosholt at PFL 6: 2019 Regular Season at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., on Thursday. Although he currently is in a playoff spot, the Japanese fighter isn’t worried about points. He’s just focused on the opponent in front of him.

“For me, any fight is important to me. I’m just focusing on this fight,” Ishii said to Sherdog.com. “I don’t care what he does or how he is. I do what I have to do and fight my game plan and win this fight.”

His game plan is simple: do whatever is easiest and take the path of least resistance to victory. Even though Rosholt has six wins by knockout, he isn’t worried about his foe’s knockout power.

“I don’t worry about anything. I don’t think that he has knockout power but obviously he is good wrestler. I’m tougher than cheap salami,” Ishii explained. “I’m going to punch his face. But one thing I worry about is the judges. Last fight the decision was not right. I won all three rounds, not split decision like they had it.”

Regardless, a win against Rosholt will secure a spot for Ishii in the upcoming PFL playoffs.
