Sergio Pettis a Free Agent, Kai Kara-France Now Meets Brandon Moreno at UFC 245

Kai Kara-France will stay on UFC 245 after all.

The New Zealander was set to take on Sergio Pettis, yet Pettis' UFC contract was expired and according to ESPN he will test free agency, leaving him to be pulled from this bout. In his stead, Brandon Moreno (15-5-1) will step up to take on Kara-France (20-7, 1 NC) at flyweight. The NZ Herald was first to report the news on Friday.

Kara-France is on an eight-fight winning streak, and has won each of his first three in the UFC. In his last fight, he edged out a decision over Mark De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 157. His other two Octagon appearances were decision victories over Raulian Paiva and Elias Garcia.

Moreno returned to the UFC in his last fight after a one fight in Legacy Fighting Alliance, where he picked up the flyweight title. His return to the UFC garnered a split draw against Askar Askarov at UFC Fight Night 159. His first stint inside the Octagon saw "The Assassin Baby" go 3-2 before his unexpected release.

UFC 245 goes down on Dec. 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and is set to be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington.
