Reigning Shooto 145-pound champion Yutaka Saito and onetime UFC contender Caol Uno will square off against American foes later this month in Chiba, Japan.
The matchups are part of the Shooto-produced “Fight & Mosh” event which takes place April 23 at Maihama Amphitheater in Urayasu, Chiba. Two world titles will be on the line that evening, with 125-pound ace Masaaki Sugawara defending against Hiromasa Ogikubo, and Koshi Matsumoto facing Yuki Kawana for the vacant 155-pound strap.
Saito claimed his belt in January with a five-round unanimous decision over Yoshifumi Nakamura, extending the Paraestra Koiwa fighter’s unbeaten streak to nine in a row. Algeo also comes off a win, having bested Jeff Lentz across 25 minutes in a non-title bout at CFFC 57 in March.
Competing for the 56th time in his career, 40-year-old Uno will look to halt a two-fight losing skid, most recently having fallen to Shigeki Osawa via second-round stoppage. Childers, 37, has not contested an MMA bout in nearly 10 years; primarily a muay Thai fighter, the Californian holds a record of 0-2.
