‘Slice’ Earns $25,000 for UFC Debut

D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson earned $25,000 (disclosed pay only) for his unanimous decision nod over Houston Alexander at “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Finale Saturday in Las Vegas, according to documents released Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The performance, bookmarked by a tepid first round and a messy final frame, launched the reformed streetfighter’s debut in the promotion following his much-hyped turn on the Spike TV series this season and an eight-week training camp with American Top Team. Alexander earned $13,000 in defeat.

Season 10 winner Roy Nelson made $41,000 for his first-round knockout of fellow finalist Brendan Schaub, who took home $8,000. Nelson was also awarded a six-figure, multi-year contract with the organization.

Frankie Edgar was the evening’s big breadwinner, at least on paper. The rising lightweight earned $71,000 for his second-round submission of Matt Veach, which included a $25,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus” awarded by the promotion. Veach made $30,000.
