Former Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight contender Jessica Eye will be pulling double duty in mid-June, tentatively competing at both UFC Fight Night 172 and Submission Underground 15.

Eye, 33, is already booked to face Cynthia Calvillo at the UFC’s June 13 event in Las Vegas’ UFC Apex. However, Sherdog has learned that “Evil” is also set to compete the following weekend at SUG 15 against Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and SBG Portland talent Amanda Loewen on June 21.

Although hopes are that Eye will be able to appear following her UFC matchup, the promotion has informed Sherdog that there is an active search for a replacement opponent, should the Ohio native be unavailable.

Eye last fought in December at UFC 245, beating Viviane Araujo by unanimous decision. The victory got her back in the win column following a head kick knockout defeat to flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko last June. This will be Eye’s second appearance for SUG. She last took to the mat for the organization in 2016 at SUG 2 in a co-headlining spot versus former UFC and Strikeforce bantamweight queen Miesha Tate.

Loewen, the first women to earn a BJJ black-belt in the state of Oregon, has competed for the promotion on three occasions, including a SUG 5 headlining spot against Professional Fighters League lightweight Sarah Kaufman, and as a part of team SBG Portland in their victory over Combat Athletics Academy. The talented grappler has also taken her talents to the world of mixed martial arts: as an amateur she is unbeaten over four bouts, with the last being a submission win in December at Rumble at the Roseland 105.

SUG 15 will feature an eight-man, one-night tournament, with the winner earning a $10,000 prize and a SUG 16 main event slot against promotional star Craig Jones. The event will air on UFC Fight Pass and take place at an undisclosed location in Oregon dubbed “SUG Island.” Advertisement
