Glover Teixeira has verbally agreed to face Maurilio “Touro” de Souza at Shooto Brazil 23 on June 4 at Clube Hebraica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The fight was revealed to Sherdog.com by Andre Pederneiras, the promotion’s South American president.
Unbeaten since 2005, Teixeira has rattled off nine consecutive victories. His career has been complicated by visa issues, which have kept him out of North American promotions the last three years. He expects changes on that front this summer.
“Only God knows when this date will come. I’m looking forward to my fight against Touro, who has already accepted to face me,” Teixeira told Sherdog.com. “I’m training very hard. That’s my business; that’s what I do. I sleep, practice and eat, thinking only about the fight.”
Touro will carry a modest two-fight winning streak into the match. He last fought under the Iron Man Championship banner in March, when he submitted Paulo Henrique Garcia Rodrigues with a guillotine choke in less than half a minute.
