Strawweight Title Bout Headlines One Championship ‘Grit and Glory’ in Indonesia

Alex Silva will defend his strawweight crown in a rematch against Yoshitaka Naito in the One Championship “Grit and Glory” headliner on May 12 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The promotion recently the booking, as well as a co-main event showdown pitting Stefer Rahardian against Himanshu Kaushik. One “Grit and Glory” takes place at the Jakarta Convention Center and is available via pay-per-view online in the United States.

Silva enters the matchup on a six-fight winning streak, including a five-round verdict over Naito in December that earned him the 115-pound strap. Prior to going the distance against Naito, the 35-year-old Brazilian had finished his previous five victories by way of submission.

For Naito, the setback against Silva was his first in 13 professional appearances. The 34-year-old former Shooto titlist began his One Championship tenure by capturing 115-pound gold with a submission of Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke. He would tap out Josh Pacio in his sophomore outing before falling to Silva.
