TUF 23 Finale Weigh-in Results: Hated Rivals Finally Cleared for Second Go-‘Round

International Fight Week will continue Friday night with “The Ultimate Fighter 23” Finale, which will go down inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The main event will see women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk defending her title against hated rival Claudia Gadelha in one of the promotion’s most anticipated grudge matches in years.

The two women stood opposite each other almost two years ago on UFC Fight Night: dos Santos vs. Miocic, with the Pole winning via split decision. Gadelha vehemently protested the decision and demanded a rematch and ever since, the two have traded verbal jabs at one another all the way through Thursday’s weigh-ins. Adding spices to the caldron, the UFC decided to have Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha serve as opposing coaches on this season’s TUF, in which they nearly came to blows several times.

Gadelha was not about to screw things up on the scale during the weigh-ins, either. The Brazilian looked like she was chiseled out of marble and came in officially at 115 pounds. Not to be outdone by her arch nemesis, Jedrzejczyk looked as fit as ever to defend her crown, weighing in at 114.5 pounds.

Andrew Sanchez and Khalil Rountree both fought their way to the finals of the men’s light heavyweight bracket on the show this year, with the winner landing a full-blown UFC contract. Sanchez, who was coached by Gadelha on the season, clocked in at 199.5 pounds. Rountree, meanwhile, the lone winner from Jedrzejczyk’s team, tipped the scale at 205.5 pounds.

In the women’s strawweight side of the show, Amanda Cooper and Tatiana Suarez, both coached by Gadelha, looked terrific at the scales. Cooper weighed in at 116 pounds while Suarez came in at 115.5.
