‘TUF 28’ Finale Medical Suspensions: Juan Espino Potentially Sidelined 6 Months



Juan Francisco Espino Dieppa could be looking at a lengthy layoff after winning the heavyweight final of “The Ultimate Fighter 28.”

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released medical suspensions from the “TUF 28” finale, which took place at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Nov. 30.

Espino, who submitted Justin Frazier in the first round of their heavyweight tilt, must have an MRI of his right knee. If the scan is positive he must receive orthopedic doctor clearance or he cannot compete until May 30. At a minimum, he cannot compete until Dec. 31 with no contact until Dec. 22.

Alex Perez was the only other fighter to receive a possible six month suspension. Perez must have his right hand x-rayed and receive clearance, or he is sidelined until May 30. At a minimum he is suspended until Jan. 15 with no contact until Dec. 31.

‘TUF 28’ Finale Medical Suspensions:

Kamaru Usman: Suspended Dec. 31; No contact until Dec. 22 due to left thumb pain.

Rafael dos Anjos: Suspended until Jan. 30; No contact until Jan. 15 due to lacerations.

Juan Francisco Espino Dieppa: Must have MRI of right knee. If positive then needs orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until May 30; minimum suspension no contest until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22.

Bryan Caraway: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22 due to laceration.

Kevin Aguilar: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22 due to left shin contusion.

Rick Glenn: Suspended until Jan. 30, no contact until Jan. 15 due to laceration.

Michel Batista: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22.

Alex Perez: Must have right hand x-rayed, if positive must have orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until May 30; minimum suspension no contest until Jan. 15, no contact until Dec. 31.

Leah Letson: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22 due to laceration.

Darrell Horcher: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22.

Ricky Rainey: Suspended until Jan. 15, no contact until Dec. 31.

Raoni Barcelos: Suspended until Jan. 30, no contact until Jan. 15 due to laceration.

Chris Gutierrez: Suspended until Dec. 31, no contact until Dec. 22.
