Terry Etim Withdraws from UFC on Fox 4 Lightweight Clash with Joe Lauzon

Terry Etim has pulled out of his UFC on Fox 4 pairing with Joe Lauzon due to injury.

Promotion officials announced the news during Tuesday’s episode of “UFC Tonight” on Fuel TV. Lauzon is still expected to compete on the card and currently awaits a new opponent. UFC on Fox 4 will be headlined by a light heavyweight clash between former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera. The event takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will also see another former 205-pound titlist, Lyoto Machida, lock horns with “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Ryan Bader.

Etim made his return to the cage last year after spending 19 months on the shelf due to injury. The Brit performed impressively in his Octagon rebirth, submitting Edward Faaloloto in just 17 seconds last November at UFC 138. Etim, 26, last competed on Jan. 14, when he was knocked out by an Edson Barboza wheel kick in the third round of their UFC 142 bout in Rio de Janeiro.

Lauzon, 28, had a two-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing, as “J-Lau” was knocked out by former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 144. The Massachusetts native was perfect in his two in-cage appearances last year, submitting Curt Warburton with a kimura before choking out Melvin Guillard at UFC 136 this past October.
