Titan FC Signs Jessica Aguilar as Matchmaker for New Women’s Divisions

Florida-based MMA promotion Titan Fighting Championship has signed UFC and Bellator veteran Jessica Aguilar to handle matchmaking duties for its newly-minted women’s divisions. According to a promotion official, there will be multiple women's weight classes in Titan FC. Exactly which ones will be implemented has not yet been determined.

The news comes on the heels of Titan FC’s announcement on Thursday that it has signed Strikeforce veteran Carina Damm as its first female fighter. Damm will make her promotional debut at Titan FC 39 on June 10; now it’s up to Aguilar to find her a suitable opponent.

Aguilar, who holds two wins over all-time great Megumi Fujii as well as victory over Carla Esparza, is excited to take on the role of matchmaker.

“I'm really excited for the opportunity to perform in a different role as the sport of women's MMA continues to grow,” Aguilar said. “I feel that as a pioneer of this sport, I can bring my own personal experiences and wisdom to female matchmaking and put together really exciting fights for the fans. I also feel it is my duty to act as an advocate for the ladies that are new to the world of professional combat sports and make sure they are treated with equal respect as the men.”

Aguilar had won 10 fights in a row and in that span she captured the World Series of Fighting’s strawweight title, defending it twice before moving on to the UFC. However, in her lone appearance in the Octagon, the Mexico native was bested by Claudia Gadelha via unanimous decision in a UFC women’s strawweight title eliminator.
