Tito Ortiz’s Win Over Alberto El Patron Changed to No Decision by Texas Commission

Tito Ortiz no longer has a victory over Alberto Rodriguez on his record.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has overturned Ortiz’s first-round submission triumph over the former professional wrestling star this past December to a no decision, according to the official results page of the event. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the ruling.

“The results of the fight were changed pending further investigation,” TDLR spokesperson Tela Mange said in a statement. The Texas commission was unable to elaborate further on why the result was changed.

Ortiz tapped Rodriguez with a rear-naked choke 3:10 into the opening frame of their 210-pound catchweight bout at Combate Americas “Tito vs. Alberto” at Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas on Dec. 7. Since Ortiz was victorious, it’s likely that the change of the result is due to something involving “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.”

A former UFC champion, Ortiz ended a 13-month hiatus to face Rodriguez. Prior to that, he knocked out Chuck Liddell at Golden Boy MMA’s lone event in November 2018. The 45-year-old has won five of his last six fights over the course of a sporadic schedule dating back to 2014. That includes victories over Alexander Shlemenko, Stephan Bonnar and Chael Sonnen in Bellator MMA.

Alberto El Patron was competing in his first MMA bout since February 2010. The 42-year-old made his name as Alberto Del Rio in the WWE but has competed in organizations such as Pride and Deep while compiling a 9-6 record in MMA.
