Two Belts on the Line at 559 Fights 72

Two championship fights will occur in Fresno, California, when 559 Fights 72 hits the Rainbow Ballroom on May 18.

Fighting Bakersfield native Vince Gomez for the vacant featherweight title will be Coalinga's own Enoch McCottrell. Both fighters will put their 3-0 records on the line in this main event matchup.

"I can't think of two hotter fighters in the Valley right now," 559 Fights president Jeremy Luchau said. "Both have an exciting style, like to finish fights and were easy choices to fight for our vacant title."

The second championship match pits current bantamweight belt holder Maritza Sanchez (5-6) against Oakland's Lindsay Scaturro (1-1).

"We have a lot of great fights on the top of this card. Everyone has enjoyed watching Maritza's rise in MMA," said Luchau.

Also holding a spot on the Fresno card is a California Amateur Mixed Martial Arts light heavyweight state title fight between Gregory Morales (4-1) and Chadricc Kindle (3-3). Morales and Kindle hail from Ceres and Lancaster respectively.

Offering a total of 17 amateur bouts, with three of them classified as "grappling super fights," 559 Fights 72 looks to be a return to form for the Central Valley mixed martial arts promotion.

"This is a loaded fight card, with 14 MMA and three grappling bouts," Luchau said. "It's been a real pleasure getting back to our roots and working with all the schools in the Valley for both grappling and MMA bouts."
