Two Bouts Added to Rizin FF’s World Grand Prix 2017 Card on July 30

Rizin FF announced on Thursday afternoon that two bouts have been added to the Rizin Fighting World GP 2017 card, which takes place July 30 at Saitama Super Arena. A heavyweight showdown between Amir Aliakbari and Tyler King and a light heavyweight clash between Teodoras Aukstuolis and Karl Albrektsson will help round out the event.

Aliakbari was the runner-up at Rizin GP 2016, losing to Mirko Filipovic in the finals. The former wrestling standout came back with a vengeance in April when he flattened Geronimo dos Santos in the first round. King, meanwhile, is a veteran of WSOF, CES and Bellator. The jiu-jitsu brown belt is a former NFL player, having spent time with the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars teams.

Aukstuolis fell short in the Rizin open weight GP in 2016 after dazzling fight fans with a highlight reel knockout of Bruno Henrique Cappelozza in the first-ever event for the Japanese promotion. Sweden’s Albrektsson is looking to bounce back from a decision loss to Valentin Moldavsky at Rizin 2 last September; he opened his pro career with five straight wins.

The two bouts bolster a marquee that is loaded with intriguing fights. Rizin previously announced that the event will contain Bracket A of the Rizin bantamweight GP, where Kyoji Horiguchi will fight Hideo Tokoro; Anthony Birchak will collide with Takafumi Otsuka; and Keita Ishibashi will take on Khalid Taha.

Additional bouts of the evening include Tenshin Nasukawa vs. Kizaemon Saiga; Miyuu Yamamoto vs. Cassie Robb; Satoru Kitaoka vs. Yusuke Yachi; and King Reina vs. Seini Draughn.
