Two Men Arrested, Charged in Hit-and-Run Murder of UFC Veteran Ryan Jimmo

One day after locating the vehicle used to hit and kill Ryan Jimmo, Edmonton Police have charged two men in the death of the former UFC fighter.

Anthony Getschel, 23, who apparently drove the truck responsible for the incident, has been charged with “second degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and fail to stop at scene of accident involving death.” Meanwhile, Jordan Wagner, 21, has been charged with “accessory after the fact to murder.”

Jimmo was reportedly walking away from an altercation with the two men in the parking lot of the H2O Lounge in Edmonton on Sunday, when the men accelerated their vehicle and hit the UFC veteran before fleeing the scene. Jimmo died from his injuries as a result of blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy performed by Edmonton’s medical examiner.

The altercation between Jimmo and the two men is being described as “a brief verbal argument.” Neither Getschel nor Wagner said they knew Jimmo prior to the incident. According to a statement, Jimmo’s death was the 25th homicide to occur in Edmonton in 2016.

Jimmo last fought at a UFC Fight Night event on May 30, 2015, dropping a decision to Francimar Barroso. He went 3-4 during his Octagon tenure and compiled a 19-5 mark over the course a professional career that began in 2007.
