Two Title Fights to Headline Combate Americas Card in Lake Tahoe on Aug. 23

Combate Americas is heading to Lake Tahoe, Nev. on Aug. 23 in a big way, as the promotion announced Tuesday that two title fights will headline the card.

The main event will be a rematch for the bantamweight title as champion Gustavo Lopez will look to defend his title against Joey Ruquet. Lopez submitted Ruquet in the second round of the first meeting in 2015. The champion is coming off of a TKO win over Jose Alday at Combate 33.

Ruquet, meanwhile, is riding a four-fight winning streak and last fought back in April, when he submitted Keith Carson to improve to 4-1 in Combate Americas.

The co-main event will see the inaugural featherweight title on the line as Andres Quintana takes on Bruno Cannetti. “The Bullet” is 15-2 as a pro and riding a five-fight winning streak. “Aquiles” meanwhile, is 7-5 as a pro and on a three-fight winning streak.

Combate Americas takes place at Harveys in Lake Tahoe and airs on DAZN at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.
