Headlined by an interim welterweight title tilt pitting former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz against onetime World Extreme Cagefighting king Carlos Condit, UFC 143 took place Feb. 4 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Condit emerged victorious in the main event, taking home a contentious unanimous decision victory over Diaz and setting up an potential pairing with longtime welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, who was sidelined with a torn ACL in December.
Of the 9,015 spectators in attendance, 6,727 paid for their admission and 2,288 were comped, making the average paid price per ticket $355.28. A total of 751 tickets remained unsold.
Also featuring a heavyweight collision between Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson , the evening’s main draw aired live on pay-per-view. The preliminary card, which immediately preceded the pay-per-view broadcast, was broadcast live on FX.
