UFC 172 Weigh-In Results: Jon Jones, Glover Texeira Hit Marks for Title Showdown

Glover Teixeira covets that which rests upon the waist of Jon Jones: the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title.

Teixeira tipped the scales at 205 pounds, as he prepares to challenge Jones (205) for the light heavyweight crown in the UFC 172 main event on Saturday at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore. Light heavyweight co-headliners Phil Davis (205.5) and Anthony Johnson (205) also met their mandated weight requirements without issue at Friday’s official weigh-in.

A winner of 10 straight fights, Jones last competed at UFC 165 in September, when he recorded a contentious unanimous decision over Alexander Gustafsson at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The 26-year-old Jackson-Wink MMA representative has defended the 205-pound title a record six times, defeating Gustafsson, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson. Jones has compiled a stellar 13-1 mark since arriving in the UFC in August 2008, his lone loss resulting from a disqualification against Matt Hamill at “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Finale.

Teixeira will carry a 20-fight winning streak into the cage. The 34-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt last appeared at a UFC Fight Night event in September, when he stopped “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Ryan Bader with first-round punches at Jornalista Felipe Drumond Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. An accomplished finisher, he has delivered 19 of his 22 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission, 16 of them inside one round. Teixeira owns a perfect 5-0 record inside the Octagon.

UFC 172 “Jones vs. Teixeira” -- which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT -- will also feature a middleweight scrap pairing former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold (185.5) with Tim Boetsch (185.5), a lightweight clash pitting AMA Fight Club’s Jim Miller (155) against Yancy Medeiros (155.5) and a featherweight tilt matching Team Alpha Male’s Andre Fili (145) with Max Holloway (145).

Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will carry four preliminary matchups: Joseph Benavidez (125.5) vs. Tim Elliott (125.5), Takanori Gomi (155.5) vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg (155.5), Jessamyn Duke (135.5) vs. Bethe Correia (135) and Danny Castillo (156) vs. Charlie Brenneman (155.5). The remaining undercard bout will stream to UFC Fight Pass at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, as “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 18 alum Chris Beal (135) meets Patrick Williams (135).
