UFC 197 Betting Odds: Rafael dos Anjos Opens as Slight Favorite Against Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor was the bookmakers’ favorite ahead of his bout with Jose Aldo, but “The Notorious” is being pegged as an underdog in his upcoming fight against UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Online sportsbook Bovada.lv recently opened betting lines for UFC 197, the main event of which will see featherweight champ McGregor challenge for dos Anjos’ 155-pound belt.

McGregor has been installed as an even-money underdog, while dos Anjos is listed as a -130 favorite. That means a $100 bet on McGregor would return $100 in profit, while a dos Anjos bettor would need to lay out $130 in order to return $100.

In contrast, McGregor opened as a -190 favorite for his bout with Aldo, while the champion was a +155 underdog. Of course, betting lines fluctuate as money comes in on either side, and Aldo was eventually established as a -125 favorite by the time the December fight rolled around.

Newly minted superstar Holly Holm will also be in action at UFC 197, and the women’s bantamweight queen is heavily favored to defend her crown for the first time against Miesha Tate. Bovada currently lists Holm as a -325 favorite ($325 to win $100), while Tate is a +250 underdog ($100 to win $250).
