UFC 199 was one of those events where there were more deserving bonus recipients than the promotion had money allotted.
Bisping received a “Performance of the Night” award for his first-round knockout of Luke Rockhold in the evening’s main event. “The Count” initially dropped his foe with a counter left hand and floored him again with a left hook as Rockhold attempted to return to his feet. Follow-up punches put an end to the contest at the 3:36 mark, giving the Englishman middleweight gold.
Elsewhere, Henderson earned the evening’s other “Performance of the Night” bonus by authoring his own feel-good moment. The heavy-handed veteran showed off some new skills against Hector Lombard in a featured middleweight bout, as he rallied to finish his opponent with a head kick and backward elbow to win via KO 1:27 into round two.
Finally, Reyes and Kim garnered “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their spirited lightweight brawl in the evening’s opening bout. While both men appeared to be on the verge of a finish on multiple occasions, it was Reyes who struck the decisive blows, finishing his opponent with a pair of right hands for a knockout victory at the 1:52 mark of round three. Both Reyes and Kim were transported to the hospital for precautionary purposes following their fight.
