Promotion officials recently confirmed the pairing. UFC 216 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 7 and is topped by an interim lightweight championship tilt between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.
Gonzalez debuted in the Octagon at UFC 210, where she was submitted in the third round by Cynthia Calvillo. The bout drew added attention because the New York State Athletic Commission initially declared that Gonzalez wouldn’t be able to fight because of her breast implants before reversing course and allowing the fight to proceed as planned. Gonzalez is 6-2 as a professional overall, with five victories coming inside the distance.
Botelho enters her first promotional foray with a 5-1 career mark. The 28-year-old Rio de Janeiro native has finished all of her triumphs by knockout or technical knockout.
