UFC 224 Update: Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, Sean Strickland to Meet in Rio de Janeiro

A welterweight bout pitting Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos against Sean Strickland has been added to the UFC 224 lineup.

Promotion officials recently announced the pairing. UFC 224 takes place at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro on May 12 and is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title tilt between Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington.

After losing a split decision to Nicolas Dalby in his promotional debut, dos Santos has won four straight bouts under the UFC banner. Most recently, “Capoeira” captured a unanimous decision win against Max Griffin at UFC Fight Night 119 this past October.

Strickland has been victorious in four of his last five Octagon appearances, including a three-round verdict over Court McGee in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 120 in November. The 27-year-old California native is 6-2 in the UFC and 19-2 as a professional overall.
