Wuliji Buren vs. Marlon Vera

Round 1

Buren comes out throwing low kicks and nearly gets countered with Vera left hand. The Chinese fighter begins sending his kicks higher, aiming at Vera's body and head. Vera switches between stances as he tests the range with some kicks of his own, slipping to the ground at one point but jumping back up before Buren can capitalize. Vera lands a left hook counter to a low kick, then eats a right hand. The Ecuadorian tries a takedown when Buren comes in to clinch, but Buren defends well and shoves him away. Vera is being forced backward, unable to establish his offense as Buren pressures with kicks and jabs. Suddenly, a left hand from Vera gets the attention of Buren, who backs up for the first time in the round. Vera moves inside to clinch and winds up being held against the fence with 60 seconds remaining in round one. Buren lands short knees in the clinch as he looks to trip Vera; referee Frank Trigg tells the fighters to get busy, and Buren responds by hitting the trip. Buren stands over the prone Vera and kicks at his legs as the final 20 seconds tick down.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Buren
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Buren
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Buren

Round 2

Vera comes out swinging and puts Buren on his back foot with a hard right hand to the face. Buren immediately grabs hold of Vera, then drops levels and takes down "Chito" at the base of the wall. Buren stacks up Vera, who throws up a high guard and looks to catch the "Beast Master" in a submission hold. Buren settles down in Vera's guard with 3:30 on the clock, puts a hard elbow on the face of the Ecuadorian. Referee Trigg orders the fighters back to their feet with three minutes left in the round. Vera immediately puts Buren in danger with a big left hand, but again Buren is able to slow things down with a clinch. Buren times a kick from Vera and blasts him over the top with a heavy right hand. Things are getting very sloppy here in the fourth minute, with both men breathing heavy and swinging wild punches. Vera gets his first takedown of the round in the fifth minute, landing a few elbows to the head before Buren is able to stand. Vera keeps hold of Buren on the fence and drills him with knees to the body. With seconds remaining, Vera releases and takes a step back, then rips into the body of Buren with a perfectly placed left hand to the liver. Buren collapses to the ground, and referee Trigg steps in to peel Vera off his fallen foe.

The Official Result

Marlon Vera def. Wuliji Buren via KO (Punch to the Body) R2 4:53

Danielle Taylor vs. Weili Zhang

Round 1

Zhang opens the striking with several leg kicks for the shorter Taylor, who's on her back foot from the opening horn as Zhang presses forward. Taylor tries to rush in to strike, gets clipped by Zhang's counter left and then backs out of the pocket. Again, Taylor tries to get something going and is made to pay as soon as she gets into range, this time by Zhang's elbow. Zhang gets hold of Taylor and trips her to the ground, then comes down in half-guard on the American's left side. Taylor's right side is pressed against the fence, giving her nowhere to go as Zhang drops punches and elbows. Taylor gets out of the bad situation by threatening with a heel hook, and the 115ers are back on their feet with 80 seconds remaining. Taylor comes over the top with a right hand that puts a smile on Zhang's face. Zhang checks a low kick, nods at Taylor and continues to press forward. Taylor catches a low kick in the last 10 seconds and puts Zhang on unsteady legs with a cracking right hand at the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Zhang
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Zhang
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Zhang

Round 2

Round two gets off to a slower start than the first, as Zhang continues to land her leg kicks, only now with more respect for Taylor's counterpunching. After a minute, Zhang begins to turn up the volume, walking down Taylor near the fence with heavier leg kicks and right hands. An off-balance Zhang deflects a punch but gets knocked to the ground, then scrambles up before Taylor can pounce. Taylor catches a Zhang charging in with a sloppy combination and nearly makes her pay with a left hand counter that lands forearm-to-face. Zhang narrowly avoids a whipping right hand from Taylor, followed by an exaggerated wiping of sweat from her brow. Zhang lands a clean left hook in the last 10 seconds, but just as in the first round, Taylor gets the final blow with a heavy right hand to the jaw.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Zhang
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Zhang
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Zhang

Round 3

The final round gets off to another slow start, with plenty of circling and the occasional Zhang leg kick. Taylor continues to back up, waiting to counter, but Zhang isn't giving her much to counter so far in this stanza. An overhand left from Zhang leaves Taylor blinking as she shuffles around the outside. Taylor tries to rush inside with a flailing combination and gets tagged by Zhang with a left hook counter. Taylor responds with an overhand left counter to Zhang's next low kick, but the American is only throwing single punches, and doing so much less effectively than Zhang. Down to the final 90 seconds now, as Zhang continues to walk Taylor around the outside. Taylor is swinging for the fences, looking for a last-minute home run, but even when she manages to land, nothing seems to be fazing Zhang in this round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Zhang (30-27 Zhang)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Zhang (30-27 Zhang)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Zhang (30-27 Zhang)

Alex Perez vs. Jose Torres

Round 1

Perez goes straight after Torres, punishing "Shorty" with both hands, firing punches to the body and head, now mixing in some elbow strikes. Torres has no answer for the early onslaught, forced to back up as Perez pours on the punches. Torres comes away from the exchange with a reddened left eye; Perez takes his foot off the gas a bit in the second minute, but he continues to keep his jab in Torres' face. Perez lands a left hand, eats a right in return from Torres, who's now cut open along his forehead. Halfway through the round, Perez shoots on Torres' legs and gets stood up. Perez seems to have very little concern for Torres' increasingly accurate counters, covering up to duck and weave, then firing back as soon as Torres stops throwing. Cornering Torres near the fence, Perez opens up with a vicious string of punches, rocking Torres' head from side to side. Referee Frank Trigg is standing inches away, ready to stop the fight, and when Torres finally crumbles under the punishment, Trigg does exactly that. Wow -- Alex Perez comes out of the gate absolutely on fire and lays waste to the previously unbeaten Jose Torres.

The Official Result

Alex Perez def. Jose Torres via KO (Punches) R1 3:36

Sheymon Moraes vs. Matt Sayles

Round 1

Sayles opens with a leg kick and a right hand, but he gets caught turning around on a spinning backfist and takes a knee to the midsection. Moraes is getting pressured, backed up to the fence, but he seems relaxed, taking his time and sizing up Sayles in the opening half of the round. Moraes stings Sayles with a left hook, then shuts down the American's first takedown attempt of the fight. Moraes goes to the body with a left hand, back up top with a clean right hook. The featherweights tie up and clinch on the fence, then separate after Moraes reverses to the outside. Sayles lands a short left hook, changes levels but still can't anything going on his takedown attempts. Moraes separates with a left hand to the body that seems to get Sayles' attention, then sticks him with a left that leaves Sayles shaking his head in the closing moments.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moraes

Round 2

Sayles walks through an early flurry from Moraes to try a takedown, but again the Brazilian is able to shut down Sayles' wrestling. Sayles gets a finger to his left eye in the next exchange, but he tells ref Blake Grice that he's OK to continue. Moraes hits Sayles with a step-in elbow strike, then swipes across his face with a left hand. Sayles answers with a jab, but Moraes tags him again with his sweeping left. Halfway through the round, Sayles continues to pressure Moraes, but neither man seems to have found his offensive groove. In one particularly sloppy exchange, Sayles pokes Moraes in the eye, but Moraes doesn't need long to recover. Soon after action resumes, Sayles comes away from an exchange complaining of another eye poke, this time in his right eye. Referee Grice tells Sayles that it was a punch, but replays show that Moraes did in fact poke Sayles in the eye.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moraes

Round 3

Moraes gets tripped up by a leg kick, comes back and hits Sayles with a left to the body. Another grazing eye poke catches Sayles in the right eye; referee Grice issues another warning but does not deduct a point from Moraes for the infraction. Sayles wants to resume almost immediately, comes back and slugs Moraes with a right hand over the top. Moraes shoots for a takedown, can't get anything going, and releases to snap off a jab in Sayles' face. Moraes goes body-head with a pair of left hooks, then has a body kick deflected by Sayles' forearms. Moraes eats a knee as he shoots for a takedown, then gets stood up against the fence. Sayles lets him off the hook, backing up to the center of the cage as the featherweights enter the final two minutes of the bout. Moraes fails on another takedown attempt and gets shoved away, then walked down by Sayles. With 60 seconds left in a deceptively close fight, neither fighter seems to be feeling any urgency to put their stamp on this round. Sayles gets busier in the final 30 seconds, attacking Moraes up against the fence, but a fatigued Moraes is able to hang on to hear the final horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Sayles (29-28 Moraes)

Kyung Ho Kang vs. Ricardo Lucas Ramos

Round 1

Ramos backs up Kang to the fence and lands a leg kick, then has to back out when "Mr. Perfect" comes off the wall with a big right hand. Ramos continues to press forward and pops Kang with a left hook; the Korean fighter comes straight back at Ramos with a right hook. Ramos works from the center of the cage, landing scattered leg kicks, then whiffing as he goes upstairs with a flashy wheel kick. Kang uses good head movement to dodge a Ramos combination, then gets caught with a hard right hand. Ramos smells blood and attacks with four or five punches behind it, but Kang stands right in the pocket and rides out the storm. Kang explodes off the fence and hits a quick takedown in the center of the fence, but Ramos uses the whizzer to scramble up in a hurry. Ramos gets caught throwing a spinning elbow, as Kang wraps him up from behind and then drags him to the floor. Again, Ramos is able to stand up in a hurry and finishes the round on his feet.

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ramos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ramos

Round 2

Ramos brings the pressure again at the start of round two, hurting Kang with a one-two as he backs up the Korean fighter to the fence. Kang hangs tough under fire from another combination, then fires back and takes down Ramos in the center of the cage. Ramos stays on his back this time, switching from full guard to butterfly, then sitting back to catch Kang in a kneebar. Kang is in deep trouble as Ramos pulls the left leg of "Mr. Perfect" across his body and works to secure the heel under his armpit. Kang rips the leg free, and the fighters come back to their feet with under 90 seconds remaining in the round. Ramos is advancing once again, landing more leg kicks, and he finishes the round with a buzzer-beater takedown.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Ramos
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ramos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ramos

Round 3

Ramos takes the center of the cage and stalks Kang around the outside in a slow-moving opening minute. The second minute sees Ramos touch Kang with a straight right hand, but Kang fires back and circles away, seemingly unfazed. Kang starts landing more leg kicks in the middle of the round, and Ramos looks to be slowing down, although still moving forward. Kang connects with two more leg kicks, then a right hand over the top before walking down Ramos to deliver a body blow. With 90 seconds left, Kang is coming on strong, beginning to overwhelm Ramos here in the final frame. Ramos hits a takedown but can't keep Kang on the floor, and the bantamweights spend the final 35 seconds circling on their feet.

Montel Jackson vs. Ricky Simon

Round 1

Jackson, a rangy southpaw at 5-foot-10, presses out from the center, flicking out long punches and kicks at Simon, who stands 6 inches shorter. Simon shoots and nearly secures a takedown, but Jackson scrambles back to his feet immediately. Simon tries to break away and struggles to free his right arm, which Jackson is holding by the wrist. Two minutes in, the bantamweights are back to striking, Jackson still pressing out from the center. Simon puts a nice left hand on Jackson's ribs, but it's a rare punch landed for the Washingtonian. Referee Frank Trigg calls for action, and Simon responds by shooting, lifting and slamming Jackson to the canvas. Jackson stands up quickly, but Simon stays glued to him and double-legs him again. Back up comes Jackson, who seems to have little difficulty standing each time he's taken down. Inside the 10-second warning, Jackson appears to hurt Simon with a short left hand, but Simon changes levels and finishes the round with a takedown.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Simon
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Simon
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Jackson

Round 2

The bantamweights move back to their positions from round one, with Jackson working from the middle, following Simon around the outside. Simon secures another takedown in the center of the cage, but this time he's swept immediately and nearly has his back taken. Simon scrambles up to his feet and skitters over to the fence, where Jackson lifts and slams him again. Simon gets up again, and now he wants a turn to secure another takedown. Jackson denies him this time, as the 135ers hit the halfway point of the round and the fight. Jackson seems to be waiting for an opening to land a big counter, but he's been unable to time Simon's attacks so far. Simon tries to shoot and gets a left hand to the grill; Jackson tries a high kick, gets caught turning around and taken to the ground with 50 seconds left. Simon transitions to Jackson's back but doesn't use hooks as they sit up against the fence. Simon eventually secures a body triangle, but he doesn't come close to a choke before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Simon
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Simon
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Simon

Round 3

Jackson slams the body of Simon with a nice kick, then backs him up with a one-two. Simon comes straight back and answers with a takedown, then tries to take Jackson's back again. Jackson turns over, taking top position, but Simon is able to stand up against the fence in a hurry. The bantamweights separate, now 70 seconds into the final frame in a very close fight. Jackson traps Simon near the fence and attacks with a knee, a pair of punches, another knee. Simon changes levels and secures another takedown, and this time he transitions straight to full mount. Jackson rolls onto his stomach, where he defends the rear-naked choke by clamping down on Simon's right glove with both hands. With Simon unable to hold him down, Jackson posts and stands -- only to be taken down again seconds later with another Simon slam. Ninety seconds remain now, as Simon continues to hunt for a rear-naked choke in between throwing knees to Jackson's legs and hind. Jackson gets up, then gets taken down again. With 30 seconds left, it's looking like a lost cause for Jackson, who gets back on his feet and makes things slightly more interesting with a standing elbow strike in the last 10 seconds.

Brett Johns vs. Pedro Munhoz

Round 1

Munhoz opens the striking with several hard leg kicks on the incoming Johns, who walks through the strikes to try and connect with his right hand. Munhoz does well to shell up and deflect the Welshman's punches, then does a good job to defend Johns' first takedown attempt. Munhoz eats a left hand on the break, then an uppercut as they engage again. Johns is starting to find his range, tagging Munhoz with several hard punches in a combination, including a blasting right hand. Munhoz creates some space with a spinning kick, but Johns comes straight back to tag Munhoz with another clean right hand. Two minutes left in the opening round, as Munhoz blocks an elbow strike and dings Johns with a right-handed counter. Munhoz blocks a level change from Johns and hits him with a high knee. Johns drops to his knees to try a takedown, then jumps back up almost immediately as Munhoz fishes for his neck. Munhoz twice goes body-head with hard punches as the last 15 seconds tick down.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Munhoz
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Munhoz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Johns

Round 2

John catches Munhoz with another high knee in the clinch, but the Brazilian reverses to knee Johns in the face, then follows up with a right hand. Munhoz lands a leg kick that leaves Johns limping on his left leg, unable to continue the level-change he was attempting. Suddenly, a blasting liver kick sends Johns to the canvas in the fetal position. Munhoz tries to pound him out from the standing position, but Johns covers up well. Munhoz gives up on the ground-and-pound, instead angling for a guillotine, but Johns is able to free himself from not one, but two attempts. The bantamweights are back on their feet at the halfway point of the round, and Munhoz' first kick draws a nod from Johns. The next leg kick sends Johns to the floor, where Munhoz follows and tries a heel hook. Johns frees the limb and gets back on his feet, where he continues to switch stances, trying to protect his body and legs from Munhoz's vicious kicks. Johns takes another liver shot that has him covering up, but he stands in the pocket and swings back at Munhoz, seeming to hurt the Brazilian with an uppercut. Just as Munhoz seems to be fading, he hurts Johns with a deflected right high kick and nearly finishes him on the floor in the final seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-8 Munhoz
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Munhoz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Munhoz

Round 3

Johns comes out in the southpaw stance, protecting the injured left leg which was examined by the cageside physician between rounds. Munhoz eats a nasty left hand, then takes one to the body, as the Brazilian is backed up under pressure from the Welshman. Another body kick folds Johns in two, and Munhoz tries to capitalize by jumping guard with a guillotine. Johns escapes the choke again but winds up on the bottom with 3:30 left in the fight. Munhoz works from half guard on Johns' left side, while "The Pikey" wraps up tight from the bottom, still trying to recover from Munhoz's punishing body blow. Without much room to work, Munhoz makes things uncomfortable for Johns with a grinding elbow on the face. Munhoz seems to be looking for an arm-triangle, but Johns has him trapped in half guard. Johns slowly powers back to his feet, fighting off another guillotine attempt as he drives Munhoz against the fence. Munhoz underhooks and reverses to the outside with 20 seconds left, but it's Johns who finishes the fight clinging to a single-leg.

Kevin Holland vs. Thiago Santos

Round 1

After a bit of leaping around and range-finding from both men, Santos gets hold of Holland and seems to be thinking about a takedown. Holland jumps guard, looking for an omoplata or straight armbar, but Santos escapes danger. Holland transitions to a standard juji gatame, and now Santos is in deep trouble. Santos rolls through, winding up in top position, then clasps his hands and breaks Holland's grip. Now it's "Marreta" on top, dropping hammers on Holland, who covers up and tries to roll with the punches and elbows. Santos pins down both of Holland's hands and staples his face with an elbow. Holland does well to cover up at first, but soon Santos is finding the mark with his heavy punches. Holland survives the barrage and locks down Santos' hands, holding both by the wrist. Holland is talking to Santos now, laughing at the Brazilian as he controls the wrists. Santos stands and allows Holland to do the same. Back on the feet, however, Holland appears to be favoring his left eye, blinking as he circles the outside. Santos grabs a rear waistlock and seems to be considering a suplex when the round comes to an end.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Santos
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Santos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Santos

Round 2

The middleweights throw simultaneous left kicks to the body, and Holland gets the worse of the exchange with an inadvertant kick to the cup. Holland doesn't want time to rest, but he loses his mouthpiece twice as soon as referee Mike Beltran calls for action to resume. After the second time, Santos changes levels and plows Holland to the floor at the base of the fence. Santos frames up an arm-triangle choke, steps over to full mount and gets bucked off by Holland, who jumps back to his feet with three minutes left in the middle frame. Santos catches Holland near the fence and delivers a nasty kick to the body before dragging the American back to the ground. Holland winds up on his knees, with Santos in the wrestling ride position, dropping right hands. Santos stands up and lands a knee, but he gets caught trying a spinning backfist and Holland hurts him with a right hand. Holland tries to take control with a clinch on the fence, but Santos hugs him against the wall. Santos changes levels for a takedown, but Holland uses a kimura to sweep to top position in a flash. Now it's Holland on top, in side control with the better part of a minute on the clock. Santos blocks a mount attempt, so Holland tries a guillotine from half guard, considers pulling guard, then thinks better of it and finishes the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Holland
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Holland
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holland

Round 3

Santos plants his hand and wheels up with a capoeira kick that appears to stun Holland. Seconds later, following a slow-motion trip takedown, Santos has Holland on the floor at the base of the fence. Santos tries to take the back, then transitions to full mount instead, again looking for an arm-triangle choke without the position to secure it. Holland bucks Santos out of mount, and referee Mike Beltran orders the American back to his feet with 2:40 on the clock. Santos pounces immediately, attacking the exhausted Holland with punches, knees and high kicks. Holland drops to his knees, fends off a 10-finger guillotine, but soon finds himself mounted again. Santos sits up to drop punches, but Holland covers up well, so Santos goes for the head-and-arm again. Holland rides out the choke and then flips backward to free Santos' grip, but it's Santos who finishes the fight on top.

J.J. Aldrich vs. Polyana Viana Mota

Round 1

The southpaw Aldrich presses forward at the start of the bout, while orthodox Viana holds her hands low, inviting the American inside. After a slow opening minute, Aldrich steps inside to clinch and immediately gets shoved against the fence by the Brazilian. Aldrich defends a throw from Viana and spins around to the outside, but Viana has Aldrich's left arm locked down with an overhook, possibly thinking about a flying submission attempt. Aldrich keeps Viana pressed against a cage post, controlling the position by putting her head underneath Viana's chin. Viana lands some short right hands as she's held in place, while Aldrich isn't mounting much in the way of offense. The strawweights separate with 1:45 on the clock, and both fighters connect with right hands in the next exchange. Viana tries to clinch and again finds herself jammed against the cage. Viana jumps guard with a guillotine but loses it as soon as her back touches the canvas. Aldrich rides out the final 30 seconds of the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Viana
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-10
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 2

Aldrich comes across the cage and touches Viana with her first right hand of the round. Viana is still holding her hands very low, using leg kicks and long right hands to try and keep Aldrich on the outside. Aldrich blocks a throw attempt and hugs Viana against the cage once again. Viana breaks out of the clinch with a knee to the body, but Aldrich slugs her back with a hard right hand. Halfway through the round, things are coming alive, as Aldrich stings Viana with a whipping left hand. Viana still isn't keeping her hands up, still flicking out front kicks as she backs up with her hands by her waist. Aldrich, meanwhile, continues to press forward patiently forward behind her jab. Viana ducks under a right hand from Aldrich and drags her to the floor with 50 seconds remaining in the round. The Brazilian tries to take the back, but Aldrich rolls over, so Viana tries to grab an arm and drop to guard. Aldrich is never in danger and once again manages to finish the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Aldrich
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Aldrich
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Aldrich

Round 3

Viana walks straight into a jab, keeps marching forward and eats another punch from the backpedaling southpaw. Aldrich denies the first takedown attempt of the round and snaps back Viana's head with a left hand over the top. Another left touches Viana on the nose, then another. Viana tries to clinch but can't get a hold on the squirming Aldrich, so "Dama de Ferro" pulls guard instead. Three minutes remain in the fight as Viana holds Aldrich in her tight, closed guard. Viana tries to sit up and isolate an arm, but Aldrich isn't giving her anything to work with on top. Referee Herb Dean tells the fighters to "work" three times before they get back on their feet. Aldrich backs up Viana into the fence, lands a combination. Viana is coming up short on most of her punches as time winds down, and Aldrich ends the fight with a one-two.

Cub Swanson vs. Renato Carneiro

Round 1

The featherweights test the range with jabs before the rangy Carneiro aims a left kick at Swanson's head but has it deflected. Swanson lands a leg kick, eats a jab, then takes a nasty leg kick from the Brazilian. Halfway through the frame, neither man has put his stamp on the opening round, though Carneiro seems to be having his way when it comes to controlling the range. A jab fells Swanson, who covers up well as "Moicano" tries to smash him unconscious with hammerfists. Swanson somehow powers back to his feet, but Carneiro takes him back down almost instantly, and now the Brazilian tries to finish Swanson from mount. Swanson puts Carneiro back in half guard, but when the veteran tries to scramble back up, Carneiro attaches himself to his back. Swanson fights off Carneiro's first rear-naked choke attempt, but the Brazilian is locked on tight with a body triangle. Although he never gets under Swanson's chin, Carneiro has the next RNC locked on tight enough to force a tap.

The Official Result

Renato Carneiro def. Cub Swanson via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 4:15

UFC Flyweight Title Fight:
Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo

Round 1

Referee Mike Beltran of California will officiate the first half of tonight's championship doubleheader. As the fighters circle in the first 30 seconds, Cejudo rolls his left ankle. The wrestler backs up to the wall, trying to plant his injured foot against the base of the fence, but he's clearly hurt and unable to put his full weight on the leg. Johnson isn't rushing things, stitting back and picking at the challenger with leg kicks. Cejudo seems to have recovered a bit after a minute, pressing forward on "Mighty Mouse," but his left leg still looks shaky as the champion goes upstairs with a right high kick. Johnson switches between stances as he hops around in front of his opponent, a relatively stationary Cejudo. A heavy kick connects to Cejudo's midsection, but he's able to reclaim some ground with a quick left hook in the last 30 seconds. Johnson seems unfazed by the strike as he resets and goes back to leg-kicking at the end of the round.

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Johnson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Johnson

Round 2

Johnson grabs for an early single-leg and gets shoved against the fence by Cejudo, who had his left knee iced down in his corner between rounds. Johnson circles out and goes back to leg-kicking, then shuts down a Cejudo takedown attempt. Johnson whizzes a left high kick over the ducking Cejudo's head. Both fighters still seem to be figuring things out as they hit the halfway point of round two. Johnson may have it figured out a bit more, as he dips in and out of range to hit Cejudo with a quick body kick. Cejudo counters the next kick with a right hand, but when he tries to get hold of Johnson for a takedown, "Mighty Mouse" escapes with ease. With 70 seconds on the clock, Cejudo hits his first takedown of the fight, tripping Johnson to the mat and landing in the champion's half guard. Cejudo looks for an arm-triangle choke, can't get it. Johnson tries to shrimp inside, leaving himself exposed for the choke, but again the champ breaks loose. Johnson sits up and drives forward on a single-leg, so Cejudo hooks the back leg and drives knees into Johnson's right shoulder to the horn.

Cejudo is sporting a cut on the outside of his right eye as the fighters get back on their feet. Johnson opens the championship rounds with a few leg kicks, then catches Cejudo with a counter right hook to the jaw. Johnson gets tripped up throwing a low kick and hustled to the ground, but Cejudo's right hand bounces off the champ's forearms. Back on the feet, Cejudo continues to walk after Johnson, but most of the offense is coming from "Mighty Mouse." Cejudo latches on to a single-leg, drops to an ankle pick and takes Johnson to the ground at the base of the fence. Cejudo is looking for a choke from half guard, but Johnson is wise to the arm-triangle and breaks it up before Cejudo can get it going. In lieu of threatening with any chokes or strikes, Cejudo stays heavy on top, flattening out Johnson on the mat. The challenger comes alive in the last 30 seconds, posturing up to hit Johnson with some short punches.

A hard body kick finds the mark on Cejudo's midsection. Johnson appears stunned for a moment after running into Cejudo's shoulder. Seemingly recovered, "Mighty Mouse" dips inside to land a right hand to the body, then underhooks and separates as Cejudo tries to tie up. Cejudo throws a combo and gets tagged by Johnson's counter left. Cejudo may be getting a little desperate now, chasing Johnson around the outside with right-handed haymakers. Cejudo tries to wrestle Johnson to the ground at the fence; Johnson turns him around, but Cejudo hits an outside trip. Johnson is back on his feet in seconds, where Cejudo makes him pay for hanging out in the pocket with a left hand. One minute remains as the flyweights go toe-to-toe in the center of the cage. UFC Bantamweight Title Fight:
T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight's 135-pound championship main event. Dillashaw blocks the first head kick from Garbrandt, then backs up and grins at his advancing challenger. Garbrandt gets a mitt up to block Dillashaw's right high kick as the bantamweights continue to feel out one another in the first 90 seconds. Garbrandt steps inside and gets cleared out of the pocket by Dillashaw's counter right hook. Dillashaw lowers his head and waits for Garbrandt to charge, then rocks "No Love" with a whipping right hand. Dillashaw slips, jumps up and gets pounced upon by Garbrandt, but the challenger is too eager and doesn't see Dillashaw's counter left hook coming. Garbrandt hits the deck in a daze, on his knees as Dillashaw tries to take his back. Garbrandt locks down one of Dillashaw's hands and clings on for dear life as he slows down the fight. The fighters scramble up, and Dillashaw stalks his wounded foe backward to the fence. Garbrandt shoots desperately for Dillashaw's legs and gets wobbled with a forearm to the chin. Garbrandt hits the ground, somehow climbs back to his feet under fire, but Dillashaw is all over him with punches against the wall. Dillashaw pulls a Thai clinch and obliterates Garbrandt with a knee to the face, then rattles his brain with a few more punches before referee Dean stops the bout. T.J. Dillashaw retains his UFC bantamweight title with another spectacular knockout of Cody Garbrandt, this one even quicker than the first.

The Official Result

T.J. Dillashaw def. Cody Garbrandt via KO (Knee and Punches) R1 4:10
