UFC 231 Weigh-in Results: All Competitors Cleared, Main Event Backup Renato 'Moicano' Heavy

Right now, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is probably thinking “All’s well that ends well, right?”

Max Holloway hit the scales at 144.5 pounds as he prepares to defend his featherweight title against the undefeated Ortega (144.75) in the UFC 231 main event this Saturday at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. However, in an ironic turn of events, Renato "Moicano" Carneiro -- who was not scheduled to fight but had been kept on hand in case one of the headliners was not cleared to compete -- failed to make the weight limit for a title fight, weighing in at 146.

The participants in the other championship bout, for the vacant women’s flyweight belt -- Valentina Shevchenko (123.5) and Joanna Jedrzejczyk (123.75) -- also made weight easily at Friday’s early weigh-in.

UFC 231 “Holloway vs. Ortega,” which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, also features a light heavyweight clash pitting British knockout artist Jimi Manuwa (204.75) against middleweight knockout leader Thiago Santos (205.75), a welterweight affair pairing submission specialist Gunnar Nelson (170.25) with Alex "Cowboy" Oliveira (171) and a featherweight battle between former World Series of Fighting standout Hakeem Dawodu (145.75) and Kyle Bochniak (145).
