Pannie Kianzad vs. Julia Avila

Round 1

The first fight of the night is a women’s bantamweight bout between Julia Avila and Pannie Kianzad. The referee is Chris Tognoni. No touch of gloves between these two. Kianzad takes the center of the Octagon right away. They clinch and Kianzad pushes Avila against the fence. Avila lands a knee to the face from the clinch and reverses position. Avila lands two more knees to the face. Kiazad reverses position and is looking for a single leg takedown but Avila stuffs it and reverses position. Avila lands a big elbow the clinch. Avila lands some nasty punches to the body and they break. Kianzad lands a nice 1-2 combination and then misses on a high kick attempt. They clinch again. Kianzad drops down for a single leg. They break and Kianzad lands a straight right on the break. Avila lands a low kick. Kianzad lands a long straight right. Jab from Kianzad. Avila lands an uppercut and has Kianzad rocked. Avila clinches Kianzad against the cage. Kianzad reverses position and Avila reverses back. Avila lands a knee to the body just before the round concludes.

Round 2

Round two begins. Avila clinches Kianzad against the cage, but Kianzad quickly reverses position. Avila reverses back and they break. Kianzad lands a low kick. Jab by Avila and Kianzad returns with a low kick. Avila looks to land a kick to the body but Kianzad catches it and throws Avila to the mat. Avila quickly bounces up to her feet. Kianzad misses on a spinning back fist attempt. Avila lands a nasty low kick. Kianzad lands a straight right. Avila lands a right hook and hurts Kianzad. She pushes her up against the fence and lands an elbow before they break. Kianzad lands a left hook. Straight right by Kianzad. Now Kianzad lands a left hook. Avila returns with a straight right and has Kianzad hurt badly. For some reason she clinches up with Kianzad against the cage instead of letting go with her punches. Kianzad recovers quickly and reverses position along the fence. They break and Avila lands an elbow. Avila with a front kick up the middle. Kianzad shoots for a double leg takedown but Avila stuffs it and then briefly takes the back of Kianzad, who reverses it and gets on top just before the round ends.

Round 3

Round three begins. They touch gloves. Avila immediately lands a combination that concludes with a straight right and Kianzad lands a right hook in return. Avila lands a 1-2 combination and pushes Kianzad back against the fence. Kianzad reverses position. They break. Avila lands a straight right and drops Kianzad to the mat. Avila jumps down in the full guard of Kianzad and is able to take her back in a scramble. Avila is able to transition to the mount and then moves to the back again. Avila is looking for the rear-naked choke. Avila transitions to an arm-triangle choke and then to the back again. Kianzad is able to defend the submission attempts until the final bell but this round was all one-way traffic for Avila.

Round 1

Next up is a welterweight bout between Ismail Naurdiev and Chance Rencountre. The referee is Mark Smith. No touch of gloves. Naurdiev takes the center of the Octagon right away. Recountre lands a low kick and Naurdiev returns with a kick to the body. Naurdiev with another kick to the body but Rencountre catches it. They clinch up and Rencountre throws Naurdiev to the mat and he gets right back up. Rencountre with another kick to the body. Rencountre looks for a body lock takedown but Naurdiev reverses position and ends up on top. They get back to their feet. Naurdiev nearly lands a high kick. He clinches with Rencountre and knees hm to the body. Naurdiev lands a nasty body kick. Rencountre grabs a leg and is looking for a single leg takedown and gets it. Rencountre is smothering Naurdiev on the mat in the corner of the Octagon. Rencountre moves into half guard and is looking to get into arm-triangle choke position. Rencountre ends the round in a dominant position on top.

Round 2

Round two begins. Rencountre pushes forward and catches a body kick by Naurdiev and follows him to the mat. Rencountre immediately takes the back of Naurdiev. Rencountre has Naurdiev flattened out and he’s looking to get the rear-naked choke. Rencountre is landing hard punches to the head of Naurdiev from back mount. Naurdiev is able to regain half guard. Rencountre remains heavy on top landing ground and pound. Rencountre has been on top in half guard for almost the whole round. This has been a dominant round for Rencountre and Naurdiev is going to need a finish in the third round if he wants to win the fight.

Round three begins. Rencountre lands a kick to the body. He immediately shoots for a double leg takedown but Naurdiev defends it and shakes him loose. Rencountre shoots for another double leg but Naurdiev stuffs it. Naurdiev lands a knee to the face as Rencountre shoots for another double leg. Rencountre gets him down briefly but Naurdiev uses the whizzer to get back up. Rencountre moves forward and Naurdiev lands a flying knee and then a straight right behind it. Rencountre clinches Naurdiev against the fence and is looking for a single leg takedown. Naurdiev defends it and they break. Rencountre drops down for another single leg takedown and can’t get it but he transitions to take the back of Naurdiev. Rencountre has Naurdiev flattened out on the mat now and is pounding him in the face. Naurdiev turns and Rencountre has full mount. Naurdiev is able to regain half guard. Rencountre jams Naurdiev up against the corner of the cage. Naurdiev is able to get back to his feet and the referee breaks the clinch. Naurdiev shoots for a double leg takedown and gets it but it’s far too late as the fight is over.

Perez takes the center of the Octagon and lands a straight right. Song gets inside and lands a left hook. He lands another left hook over the top. Song lands a counter straight right as Perez moves towards him. Perez lands a jab and Song returns with a left hook. Perez lands a low kick and drops his hands as Song capitalizes and lands a brutal counter overhand right that sendings Perez flying to the canvas. Song lands some nasty ground and pound and the referee jumps in and saves Perez from any further damage. Tremendous finish by Song.

Up next is a women’s strawweight bout between Claudia Gadelha and Randa Markos. The referee is Jason Herzog. No touch of gloves between these two. Gadelha takes the center of the cage with Markos circling on the outside. Gadelha tags Markos with a straight right. Markos lands a left hook and Gadelha returns with one of her own. Gadelha lands a straight right and Markos returns with a left hook. Gadelha lands an uppercut. Markos with a low kick and Gadelha returns with a left hook. Gadelha lands a 1-2 combination. Gadelha lands a low kick and Markos returns with a straight right. Gadelha nearly lands a massive head kick. Markos blocks it and pushes forward and lands a straight right. Jab by Gadelha. Vera returns with one of his own. Vera lands another nasty low kick. Hernandez throws a body kick but Vera catches it and throws him to the mat. Vera immediately transitions to the back of Hernandez. Vera has a tight body triangle and is punching Hernandez in the head as he looks to get the rear-naked choke. Vera transitions to an armbar and Hernandez could be in trouble. Vera is now working on an arm crush and loses it. Hernandez is now on top and is landing heavy ground and pound on Vera’s face. This round turned around quickly. Hernandez is landing heavy punches but the round is over.

Now Vera is pushing forward and lands a brutal knee to the face of a ducking Hernandez that knocks Hernandez to the mat. Vera lands on top of him in the mount and quickly takes his back and gets the rear-naked choke. Great finish by Vera.

The third and final round begins and Melendez needs a finish if he wants to win this fight. Allen lands a kick to the body that Melendez nearly catches but Allen forces him back towards the cage. Allen now changes levels and completes a double leg takedown. Melendez gets back to his feet. Melendez lands a left hook and Allen returns with a low kick. Straight left by Allen. He lands a low kick. Melendez lands a straight right but Allen returns with a low kick. Melendez is having trouble standing up now after eating all these low kick. Straight left by Allen. Another low kick by Allen. He lands a high kick and Melendez is really wearing it now. Low kick by Allen. Melendez lands a straight right. Body kick by Allen. Now he lands a switch kick. Allen lands a front kick and he presses forward with his punches just before the end of the round. Tremendous performance tonight by Allen.

Round 1

The first fight on the pay-per-view is a welterweight bout between Michael Chiesa and Diego Sanchez. The official in charge of the Octagon is Mark Smith. Sanchez immediately shoots for a single leg takedown and completes it but Chiesa is already looking for a guillotine choke. Chiesa transitions to the back of Sanchez and then into an armbar position off the bottom. Sanchez breaks free of the armbar and Chiesa gets back to his feet. He throws Sanchez to the floor. Sanchez gets back up but Chiesa starts teeing off on Sanchez against the cage with his knees. Sanchez changes position. Chiesa uses a body lock takedown to take Sanchez to the mat. Chiesa takes his back and puts a body lock triangle around his body. Chiesa is looking for a rear-naked choke now. Sanchez breaks free. Chiesa still has the body triangle and is elbowing Sanchez in the ear to soften him up. Sanchez manages to break free from the rear-naked choke attempt by Chiesa. But Chiesa immediately gets back on top of Sanchez in his guard. Chiesa finishes the round pushing Sanchez against the corner of the Octagon.

He’s punching Sanchez in the face and now has him up against the fence. Chiesa lands a big elbow. He starts teeing off of Sanchez with punches and then dumps him to the mat. Chiesa is just flowing on the mat and moving into different dominant positions on top of Sanchez. Chiesa now takes the back of Sanchez once again. He has Sanchez completely flattened out and is pounding him in the face with punches and elbows. Chiesa is now looking for a neck crank but Sanchez gets out of it and stands back up clinching Chiesa against the fence. Chiesa jumps on top of Sanchez and looks to take his back once again. He switches to a kimura and then to back control once again but he can’t complete the submission. Another dominant round for Chiesa.

Round three begins. They touch gloves. Sanchez moves forward with a right hook. Chiesa changes levels and takes Sanchez to the ground easily with a single leg. Chiesa once again transitions to the back of Sanchez. Now Sanchez manages to break free and he clinches Chiesa against the fence. Chiesa throws Sanchez back down to the mat. Chiesa is just controlling Sanchez right now. Once again Chiesa takes the back of Sanchez. Chiesa is punching Sanchez in the face and elbowing him while in back mount. Chiesa transitions to half guard and continues to punch Sanchez in the face. Chiesa takes the back again. While Chiesa didn’t get the submission, he dominated Sanchez this entire fight.

The co-main event is next, a five-round bout for the UFC women’s bantamweight title between champion Amanda Nunes and challenger Holly Holm. The referee is Marc Goddard. The first round begins. They touch gloves. Nunes with a kick to the body. Holm returns with a low kick. Nunes with a kick to the body and then a low kick. Holm lands a jab that wobbles Nunes. Now Nunes lands an overhand right but Holm circles away. Low kick by Nunes. Holm lands a low kick. Nunes with a high kick that is partially blocked. Straight right by Nunes. Kick to the thigh by Nunes. Holm rushes in and lands an uppercut. They clinch and Nunes land some knees to the body and then a trip takedown but Holm gets right back up. Nunes with a low kick. Holm lands a kick to the body. Nunes lands a left hook. Kick to the body by Nunes. Now she lands a brutal head kick that knocks Holm to the mat. Nunes follows her down and lands some brutal punches before the referee steps in and saves Holm from any further punishment. Unreal.

Round 1

It’s now time for the main event, a five-round fight for the UFC light heavyweight title between champion Jon Jones and challenger Thiago Santos. The referee is Herb Dean. Jones lands a front kick right away, then an oblique kick. Santos returns with a low kick that seems to hurt Jones. Now Jones lands a low kick. Santos lands a low kick. Another low kick by Santos. He throws another low kick that Jones catches. Santos with another low kick. Jones goes high with a kick but Santos blocks it. Another low kick by Santos. He is really starting to go to town with these. Santos moves forward and lands a right hook that knocks the mouthpiece of Jones out. Time is called and they touch gloves after Jones puts it back in. Santos lands a powerful right hook. Santos lands a straight left. Jones with a spinning back kick. Santos with another low kick. Jones lands a low kick now. Jones with a spinning heel kick to the head that grazes Santos and the round is over.
