UFC 240 Bonuses: Neal, Dawodu, Figueiredo, Pantoja Collect $50K Checks

Geoff Neal is looking like a force to be reckoned with in the UFC’s welterweight division.

The Fortis MMA product received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his second-round stoppage of Niko Price in a featured welterweight tilt at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday night. After a wild opening stanza, Neal put Price away with forceful ground-and-pound at the 2:39 mark of the period.

Elsewhere, Hakeem Dawodu captured the card’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” paycheck thanks to a finish of promotional newcomer Yoshinori Horie in a preliminary featherweight clash. Dawodu spent most of the fight tracking his foe down, but he really turned up the heat in the third stanza, hurting Horie with a knee to the body before ending the contest with a head kick at the 4:09 mark.

Finally, Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja garnered “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their entertaining preliminary flyweight clash. Figueiredo floored his foe in the second frame and relied on a varied standup attack to emerge with a unanimous decision triumph, ending Pantoja’s three-fight winning streak.
