Eight fighters from UFC 249 are looking at potential 180-day layoffs, but at the moment, Tony Ferguson isn’t one of them.
Ferguson took a hellacious beating at the hands of Justin Gaethje in Saturday’s headliner at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, eventually falling via technical knockout 3:39 into the fifth round. While “El Cucuy” reportedly suffered a broken orbital in the bout, thus far he has only received a 60-day medical suspension. However, that term could be longer pending further results, according to a full list of suspensions released by the Florida State Boxing Commission to Sherdog.com on Tuesday.
Gaethje, meanwhile, emerged from the card with a clean bill of health. The eight fighters who received 180-day suspensions can have those terms reduced once they are cleared by a physician. The FSBC did not reveal the specific nature of each medical suspension.
