UFC Champions T.J. Dillashaw, Henry Cejudo Face Off on Set of ‘Extra’

It would appear as though T.J. Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo are setting the stage for a champion vs. champion bout in the UFC somewhere down the road.

Dillashaw and Cejudo squared off during an appearance on the set of the “Extra” news magazine show hosted by UFC fan Mario Lopez. The reigning bantamweight and flyweight titlists traded barbs before facing off in front of Lopez.

“Be careful what you ask for brother. I’m taking that belt from you,” Dillashaw warned.

Cejudo responded by referencing Dillashaw’s first-round technical knockout loss to John Dodson at “The Ultimate Fighter 14” finale in December 2011.

“The last time you fought a flyweight, you got knocked out. Remember that,” Cejudo said.

The show was filmed at Universal Studios in Hollywood on Monday, but it is currently unclear exactly when the segment will air. Both Dillashaw and Cejudo earned major victories at UFC 227 on Aug. 4. Dillashaw closed the book on his rivalry with Cody Garbrandt with a first-round stoppage in the main event, while Cejudo shocked the world thanks to a split-decision triumph over Demetrious Johnson in the co-headliner.

After his victory over Johnson, Cejudo called for a bout with the winner of the UFC 227 main event and continued to campaign for the matchup at the post-fight press conference. However, there are several interesting contenders at 135 pounds waiting for Dillashaw, and “Mighty Mouse” would seem to deserve a rematch with Cejudo after setting a record for successful title defenses. Thus far, the promotion hasn’t made any definitive announcement regarding the next move for either champion.
